Bodybuilding Tools - Arming For Impending Gym Battles

A painter brushes his canvas, an actor reacts to his surroundings and a pastry chef mixes eggs, flour and sugar. So, too, must the bodybuilder properly arm himself preceding his impending day's battle at the gym. Not only are his tools a necessity, but they serve to protect him against injury and help to ensure a smooth and proper job performance. Some are arguably more important than others but we will still detail all their implementation into your routine and how they can provide you with enhanced results.

Weight Belt The biggest concern is not why to use a weight belt, but which one to use. It's imperative to choose one that offers both comfort and support in stabilizing your lower back. A good belt is worth the price and will add years to your active lifestyle.

Workout Gloves A good pair of training gloves will protect your hands from rough abrasions that everyday lifting demands. Along with leaving your hand soft and callous-free, they help to protect you from cuts, bruises and pinches. Try the many varieties available for a snug fit that will allow you to do battle effectively each day in the gym.

Lifting Chalk A block of chalk is good for strengthening an already vise-like grip. When attempting to dead lift hundreds of pounds, the last thing you need is a faulty grip. Bust off a piece of chalk, bang your hands together and grip up. You'll be amazed how well it works.

Wraps and Straps Wraps and straps offer your muscles extra support and ensure that you give out before your hands do, enabling you to do a few extra reps within your sets - and that equates to more growth. Straps are fitted around the wrists and onto the barbell or chin-up bar for gripping in such movements as chins and dead lifts, while wraps are braced around areas of the body, such as knees, for extra support of tender knee joints when performing squats or leg presses.

Supplements Nutritional supplements are just supplemental to an already good diet, and are by no means a replacement for good sound nutrition. Although hundreds of supplemental products flooding the shelves, you can't go wrong with a basic multivitamin supplement and protein powder.

Training Diary A training diary is an absolute MUST for any serious lifter striving toward a goal. A charted map of where you want to be and how successful you are in advancing is an integral part of any bodybuilder's regimen. You should include detailed entries on goals, areas targeted for improvement, training routine and programs, diets, increased poundages and other intangibles. Even if you can remember every minute detail as it relates to your bodybuilding program, without a written text you can miss out on charting your improvements.

The greatest tool known to men is knowledge. No matter what your stage of development, you can never know too much. You must keep updated on what's going on in your bodybuilding world. Read books, magazines, search the internet, attend bodybuilding shows, watch videos and talk to athletes. Find what works for lifters ahead of your stage of development and adapt it to your own bodybuilding lifestyle.
